I am excited to get back to my printmaking students tomorrow after they had spring break. Since my wife was in the hospital for a week and is in need of constant supervision subsequently after her huge surgery, we have had 100% parental occupation of our house for nearly 3 weeks now. The last day I met with my class I explained to them that since I do not feel it is a good time to talk with my family about my gender identity, I would not being coming to teach them in female dress upon our next meeting. They were all so amazingly supportive and even funny about the situation. We had a lot of laughs about it though I have felt sick to my stomach everyday I have not been able to be my true self. I wish that speaking to those that are closest was as easy as speaking to those whom I barely know. It is obvious why that it is so much harder, but its still weird.

These are really nice.
Some sketches from the past week. I started a new job two weeks ago as a background painter for an animation studio in Vancouver. It’s been a struggle trying to remain productive in my off-hours, but I’m getting better!
I won a Hillsborough Art Council Grant the other day so my Tampa Bay Hair Project can really get off the ground now. I am using the money to buy a new camera, I have decided on a micro four thirds camera by Olympus. I love our digital SLR but it is so heavy and it gets really weighty trying to hold it up while talking to someone who you are trying to entice to allowing you to photograph them.
